Tennessee U.S. Representative Mark Green (R-TN-07), who chairs the House Homeland Security Committee, was appointed by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA-04) to serve on the bipartisan House task force responsible for investigating the July 13 attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

Johnson announced Monday that the task force would be chaired by U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (R-PA-16), who represents Butler County – where the attempted assassination took place.

In addition to Kelly and Green, the five other Republicans appointed to the task force include U.S. Representatives Dave Joyce (R-OH-14), Laurel Lee (R-FL-15), Mike Waltz (R-FL-06), Clay Higgins (R-LA-03), and Pat Fallon (R-TX-04).

“We have the utmost confidence in this group of steady, highly qualified, and capable Members of Congress,” Johnson said.

Green said he was “honored” to be appointed to the task force.

“DHS and the Secret Service’s utter failure to safeguard a former president and current candidate for our nation’s highest office was unacceptable from the start, and it grows more troubling with each new report and effort by the Biden-Harris administration to stonewall congressional oversight,” Green said in a statement.

“Establishing this task force is a critical step in addressing this failure and ensuring we get the American people the answers they deserve. We will do everything in our power to ensure nothing like this ever happens again, and I encourage DHS, as well as former Secret Service Director Cheatle, to cooperate with our bipartisan oversight mission,” Green added.

The task force is also composed of six Democrats, led by Ranking Member U.S. Representative Jason Crow (D-CO-06).

The five other Democrats appointed to the task force by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY-08) include U.S. Representatives Lou Correa (D-CA-46), Madeleine Dean (D-PA-04), Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA-06), Glenn Ivey (D-MD-04), and Jared Moskowitz (D-FL-23).

The goal of the task force, according to Speaker Johnson and Leader Jeffries, is to “ understand what went wrong on the day of the attempted assassination, ensure accountability, and prevent such an agency failure from ever happening again.”

In addition, the task force will also make “recommendations for reform to the relevant government agencies and recommend any necessary legislation to implement the reforms” based on its findings.

This tells you more about who Mark Green isn’t than who he is

Do any of the Congressmen have Law enforcement experience? Do any of the Congressmen have military experience? Speaker of the house left off several congressman who have Military/Sniper/Protection detail experience. Looks like the cover up will continue.

Mark Green is a West Point grad, was an infantry officer and also a flight surgeon. I would say that’s sufficient.
